Brief Description of the Project

The Hong Kong International Relations Research Association’s project is a study of cemeteries for ethnic minorities in Hong Kong, including the Muslim Cemetery, the Hindu Cemetery, the Parsee (Zoroastrian) Cemetery, and the Jewish Cemetery in Happy Valley.

Noting that most of the present studies of cemeteries are predominantly focused on the cemeteries dedicated to either Chinese or the Christians, this project aims at answering how the ethnic minorities cope with the plight in Hong Kong, from the religious, social, economic and ethnical dimensions. It is also targeted to raise the public’s awareness and respect of these historical establishments relating to the ethnic minorities.
