25th Anniversary Activities

 

Heritage Walks

To foster the public's understanding of our precious culture and promote heritage preservation, nine heritage walks to visit various historical and/or heritage sites in Hong Kong and Kowloon were organised on 15 December 2018 for participation of around 250 members of the public.

The walks were hosted by the following nine renowned experts from the cultural, astronomical and town-planning sectors and were very well received by the participants.

Prof Selina CHAN Ching

Prof Selina CHAN is a Council member of the Trust, and currently teaches at the Department of Sociology in the Hong Kong Shue Yan University. Her fieldwork covers different Chinese communities in Hong Kong, Taiwan, China and Singapore and her research interests are family, lineage, religion, cultural heritage, collective memories and identities.

Prof HO Pui-yin

Prof HO Pui-yin is the Council Chairperson of the Trust, and currently teaches at the Department of History in the Chinese University of Hong Kong. She is a social and economic historian with a strong interest in Hong Kong urban history. She believes that interaction between academics and the community can enable theories to help achieve a better understanding of society and make improvements.

Prof LAM Chiu-ying, SBS

Prof LAM Chiu-ying is the Adjunct Professor, Department of Geography and Resource Management, Chinese University of Hong Kong. He was the former Director of the Hong Kong Observatory. After retirement, he gives numerous talks to promote simple life-sytle and love for nature.

Prof LAU Chi-pang, JP

Prof LAU Chi-pang is a Council member of the Trust, and currently teaches at the Department of History in the Lingnan University. His research interests include Hong Kong history, Ming and Qing China, Modern China and China intellectual history.

Prof LEE Kam-keung

Prof LEE Kam-keung is a Council Member of the Trust as well as the Adjunct Professor of the Department of History in the Hong Kong Baptist University. His research focuses include history of Fujian and Taiwan, history of Chinese revolution and history of Christianity in modern China.

Mr LING Kar-kan, SBS

Mr LING Kar-kan is the Director of Design Institute for Social Innovation in the Hong Kongn Polytechnic University. He was the former Director of Planning. As a professional town planner with extensive experience including planning for the new airport and Tung Chung New Town.

Prof LUI Tai-lok, JP

Prof LUI Tai-lok is the Vice President (Research and Development) of the Education University of Hong Kong. He has wide research interests covering class analysis, economic sociology and Hong Kong society.

Mr SHUN Chi-ming, JP

Mr SHUN is currently the Director of the Hong Kong Observatory. From 2010 to 2018, he was elected the President of the Commission for Aeronautical Meteorology of the World Meteorological Organization (WMO). He is the first Chinese person to serve as the president of a technical commission of the WMO.

Dr Joseph TING Sun-pao

Prof Joseph TING is currently a Board Member of the Trust as well as the Adjunct Professor and Senior Research Fellow of the Department of History in the Chinese University of Hong Kong. He served as the Chief Curator of the Hong Kong Museum of History. His reserach interests include history of Hong Kong, Guangzhou and Macau, history of overseas Chinese communities,etc.
