Heritage Talk: Big City, Small Shops: The Establishment, Transition and Succession of Hong Kong's Local Old Shops

To promote heritage preservation of the general public, a heritage talk titled "Big City, Small Shops: The Establishment, Transition and Succession of Hong Kong's Local Old Shops" was held on 1 April 2017 at the Hong Kong Central Library which attracted the attendance of over 200 members of the public. Through the detailed illustrations by Prof. HO Pui-yin and Mr Simon GO, the talk hopes to identify the key to the structural transformation of modern Hong Kong society and its economic success; analysis is then made of the influence Western culture had on the development of Hong Kong after the 19th century.

The audio and video of the talk are uploaded onto the Multi-media Information System of the Hong Kong Public Libraries. Please click here to view the audio and video of the talk.
